Medical Office Assistant Program

Want to begin a career as a Medical Office Assistant?  Want more experience in the medical field?  Start training at New Hope!

Where?- New Hope Education Center- 175 Jefferson Avenue, Buffalo, NY 14210

               -Across from the Frederick Douglass Towers between Swan and Clinton Street

When?- Day classes are held Monday through Thursday from 12noon-3:30pm and last 10 weeks

Evening classes are held Tuesday through Thursday from 4:30pm-8pm and last 15 weeks

Morning classes are held Monday through Thursday from 8:30am-12noon, and are offered in the summer

Who can take this course?- Basic computer and typing skills are required

How do I enroll?- Prospective students must complete a math and reading assessment.  After successful completion of the assessment, the individual will be scheduled for a drug screening and interview

What does it cost?- Tuition: $675 + $20 book fee.  Financial aid is available through various organizations

What do I learn in this class?- Receptionist and Billing Clerk skills, using Medent® software

Course Description- New Hope's Medical Office Assistant program is a comprehensive training program for students interested in entering the field of Medical Office Assistant with front office skills: Receptionist and Billing Clerk.  The program focuses on basic computer skills, keyboarding medical software/data entry, patient's rights and confidentiality, insurance claims, medical terminology and medical coding and billing.  The program provides basic instruction of MEDENT®, the industry's foremost electronic medical records and practice management software. 

Students will learn the basic skills of a Medical Office Assistant and various industries in which they may seek employment: front desk reception, patient representative, insurance claims, coding, billing medical collections, hospital unit clerk, medical secretary, data entry, and other administrative non-clinical positions.

Basic computer competency and typing skills are required.
