SEPTEMBER 2017

SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT!

FUNDING AND FINANCIAL INFORMATION

Harvest House of South Buffalo Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation. Contributions are tax deductible. Harvest House has 4 full-time and 5 part-time paid staff members. The programs in the Harvest House Ministry Center building at 175 Jefferson Avenue - the Baby & Children's Ministry, Good Neighbors Health Care and New Hope Education Center - are kept open through the generosity of 200+ volunteers.  The Board of Directors serve pro bono. Harvest House has a 100% giving board - every board member contributes financially or volunteers time and service.

Harvest House is managing payments toward a mortgage, which has helped fund the facility on Jefferson Avenue. Harvest House does not rely on or receive any government funding.  Approximately one third of the annual operating budget comes from donations from groups using the retreat facilities. The other two thirds come from donations from supporters who believe in the various ministries of Harvest House. New Hope Education Center receives operating funds from user fees from educational providers, who are offering classes at the school.  The Bottles for BabiesTM campaign supports the Baby and Children's Ministry.

Ways you can donate:

  • Designate Harvest House to receive your United Way, Thrivent, SEFA or CFC donations.
  • Participate in the Bottles for BabiesTM campaign
  • Remember Harvest House in your Will
  • Donate stock. Selling a highly appreciated stock results in a capital gains tax whereas stock donated to a non-profit is donated at its current market value rather than its original purchase price before appreciation.
  • Tithe either monthly or annually.
  • Have your own fundraiser for Harvest House! A baked goods sale, car wash, collect spare change at the end of the cafeteria line at school, hold a "baby shower" party...be creative!
  • Donate proceeds from your office or school dress down day!
  • Donate gift baskets or gift certificates for our annual fundraiser, held each October.

Did you know...that some companies will match charitable contributions? Please check with your employer to see if they will do this!

All money spent on capital improvements comes from grants from local and national foundations, as well as an occasional donation from an individual or business for a specific capital improvement.

Harvest House are excellent stewards of their donations spending countless hours removing items from buildings being dismantled or sold. 95% of the original Harvest House Ministry Center was furnished with materials removed from other buildings.

Additional financial information is available on request by contacting Harvest House.
